NOTRE DAME DESIGN - STUDENT PORTFOLIOS

This spring, students, faculty, and staff continued to navigate the challenges imposed by the ongoing pandemic. We have faced an unprecedented time and have been asked to do unprecedented work. Through it all we continue to work, create, and build community. It has been incredibly impressive to witness the innovative solutions, personal resolve, and speed with which our students have adapted to our ever-evolving instruction.

We have created this site to showcase student design work at Notre Dame, and to provide a gateway for students to network with prospective employers, mentors, and research partners. We encourage you to explore the ways in which our students have responded to recent challenges to help inform better futures.

THE WORK

Design education at Notre Dame focuses on building deep empathy with all stakeholders to solve wicked problems within contextualized situations, from individual usability problems to global systemic challenges. You can explore the various levels of problem solving addressed through the lens of our two design majors - industrial design and visual communication design. We invite you to explore the ideas, share it with others, respond, and most importantly, reach out to the students to further the discussion.

THE DEPARTMENT

Art | Art History | Design

The Department of Art, Art History & Design is a multi-disciplinary department offering programs of study in studio art, art history, and design. Our graduate and undergraduate programs provide unique perspectives on what it means to be an artist, designer, and art history scholar at a liberal arts university. Under the guidance of a talented and diverse faculty, students acquire a broad range of creative skills necessary to find innovative solutions, work collaboratively, think critically, and cultivate the personal discipline and maturity to reflect thoughtfully and humanistically on the complex world culture we live and work in today.
